Yes, exactly, this is the same I think, if aliens will not eat us we will consider if we can eat them, if not, we ask them the meaning of life, if they can not answer we will soon loose interest

The question only has any validity if we assume we understand the true nature of reality itself. We don't even recognize the the inherent intelligence of some of our native species so how would we recognize something totally other. Humans are an extremely clever species that sadly seems to exhibit very little true intelligence in its overall behavior which is more akin to that of a virus than a responsible planetary community. Why would anybody want to talk to us when we can't even talk to each other?

How can you say "start with a star" and actually think you're doing science? If you don't even know how the star is built how do you know planetary bodies aren't built along with their stars? If star are built along filaments why can't planets form along those same filaments
