Salvation is not based on us (looking inward) but based on our Lord, Jesus Christ. Works based teaching places the focus on us. It is faith in Jesus Christ that brings Salvation & the assurance thereof.

What about bearing fruit? Just because you believe in the death and resurrection of Christ does not in and of itself mean you are saved. Jesus said “You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:20) and “not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my father who is in heaven” (Matthew 20:21). He also said “if you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15) and of course James says that faith apart from works is not genuine faith, it is a dead faith… Read more »
