You can argue that white history month is every month because america is a predominantly white country but if you study world history you can say every month is a differnt part of a big history textbook. It makes sense im not doubting that african americans were not oppressed they were. But to say every month is white history is pretty outlandish and an unfair assumption to begin with
Cut out the African cut out the black add the American then you'll have something. Cut out the "white people" white is a color not a race. Until we see ourselves as Americans you'll always have racism. I agree get rid of black history month, just like everyone else if you want to learn about something, look it up….

THANK YOU!!! I came to this country 25 years ago. One of the most intriguing celebrations was black history month. Coming from Mexico I learned about Aztecs, Mayas, and a bunch of other events and people in my country as "Mexican" history. Black history month was always a weird name because I never heard or learned anything about the blacks in Uganda, or Cuba, or Ethiopia. It was only about the Americans in the 50's and 60' S . my first innocent question was isn't THAT American history? Why black history…? I could never understand it.
